PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha on Friday condemned the allegations made by the Congress against its Minister Alina Saldanha claiming that the party and government are with Alina and her fight for granting Special Status for Goa.
Speaking to reporters Mahila Morcha President Kunda Chodankar said Congress leaders should learn to respect women and not level baseless allegations. She also clarified that the government was with Saldanha in fight for Special Status.
“It was BJP government which moved the resolution for special status in the assembly and was supported by all political parties. She has been fighting for the issue along with her late husband even before she joined politics,” Chodankar said.
“BJP never used women for political gain but Congress has been seen taking its women leaders for granted,” she added.
Congress had on Thursday asked Saldnaha to step down, instead of just verbally threatening to resign  and that BJP-government is using her.
