Cong focuses on miseries of cashew farmers, cane cultivators & mining dependents during Sanguem tour

Lists out lies dished out by PM Modi during his reign, including the lofty promise of transferring Rs 15 lakh to every person’s account

SANGUEM: INDIA Bloc candidate Capt Viriato Fernandes was given a rousing welcome during his tour of the Sanguem taluka on Monday morning where he visited Rivona, Molcornem, Wadem, Bhati, Uguem villages along with Sanguem town.

Capt Viriato was accompanied by a large number of Congress leaders from the grass root level during this extensive tour of the taluka.

He began the campaign by seeking blessings at the Mallikarjun temple at Molcornem and Damodar temple at Zambaulim.

Sticking to his simple nature, Capt Viriato had his lunch at the residence of one of the party workers at Colomb thus endearing himself to the party foot soldiers.

He listed out the lies dished out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his reign including the lofty promise of transferring Rs 15 lakh to every person’s account. “On the contrary, he siphoned off lakhs of rupees from small businessmen under the guise of GST,” Viriato kept reminding people.

He also pointed out that the mining dependent families have been struggling since 2012 and living only on false promises by the BJP that “mining will start soon.”

While castigating the BJP for their silence to the suffering of cashew cultivators in the taluka, he said he will strive to give them a very lucrative minimum support price.

Capt Viriato also criticised the BJP government for closing the Sanjivani Sugar Factory that was the lifeline of cane cultivators form the assembly constituency.

“I appeal to all of you to come out in large numbers of May 7 and vote for me to enable me to become your voice in the LS,” Viriato said.
