MAPUSA: Congress has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or a SIT probe into Serula Comunidade land scam.
Claiming that land scam in Serula Comunidade is one of the biggest in history of Comunidades, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar on Thursday demanded a CBI or a SIT probe into the land scam.
“Comunidade land is illegally given out to different people. The cases being investigated are only 39, however, the actual plots are more than 10,000 and they have already been sold out,” he said.
On the missing files, Chodankar said, “The files of Serula Comunidade land are missing. This is due to lack of permanent staff, who are responsible and accountable for the files. The comunidades have employed only temporary staff resulting in missing of files.”
Claiming that Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte himself had raised the issue of Serula land scam, Chodankar questioned as to why Khaunte has not taken action since taking over the department.
“It looks like people involved in the scam are very close to him and is he protecting them,” he wondered.
Referring to the raid conducted by ACB in Mapusa deputy collector office, Chodankar said, “The Mapusa deputy collector’s office was raided and files were seized. The same deputy collector is also holding the post of administrator of comunidades. The officer is still holding the charge and is not relieved although he has been promoted. This itself casts serious doubt of government involvement to suppress and scuttle the investigation.”
He observed that there would be no impartial inquiry Khaute continues remain as revenue minister. “Rohan Khaute should resign for free and fair inquiry into this scam,” he said.
