PANJIM: The leaders of Congress and the Goa Forward Party (GFP) on Tuesday thanked people of Goa for reposing their trust and supporting them to secure around 26 seats to form a stable government.
Both the alliance partner leaders along with candidates met at a city hotel, here to make assessment of Monday’s polling.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar said that through this Assembly election, Goans have shown different direction to the nation. “People have not supported split of votes. They voted to defeat BJP. I am thankful to all Goans,” he said.
“BJP will get less than 10 seats. Chief Minister and both Deputy Chief Ministers will get defeated,” he said.
Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat said that feedback of people suggest that they have voted to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “I salute to the people of Goa for giving us support,” he said.
Kamat said that the BJP’s arrogance will minimise after results are out on March 10.
AICC Goa incharge Dinesh Rao said that he is happy to receive love and affection from the people of Goa and for deciding the future of Goan politics. “We have heard to the voice of people and gave new Congress,” he said.
Congress leaders also thanked MP Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, senior leaders P Chidambaram, K C Venugopal and others for campaigning in Goa.
GFP president Vijai Sardesai also thanked people of Goa for destroying the BJP virus.
