MARGAO: The COVID situation in Goa is turned into a nightmare by the insensitive and irresponsible BJP government. The patients are made to sleep on floors as all hospitals are full, but the greed of making business from people’s sickness has resulted in Health Minister Vishwajit Rane keeping the two floors of South Goa District Hospital vacant, charged Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar.

Girish said that the Congress is now serving last and final ultimatum of 15 days to the government to stop dreaming about opening private college in the complex and make the entire hospital operational by making functional all the wards and utilising all the floors for the healthcare of patients. If the government fails to act now, we will be compelled to come out with a huge morcha to show people’s strength to the defective government headed by Dr Pramod Sawant.
“We want to warn the Health Minister whose greed has crossed all limits that the curses of poor and specially those who are made to suffer during illness is not good. One has to face the consequences in their own lifetime. Think of betterment of common man,” said Girish Chodankar.
“The former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar deliberately delayed the completion of the hospital due to personal vendetta and now the current regime wants to make money by privatising it. The defective government of BJP in Goa is spreading lies on COVID patients and deaths by releasing fabricated and misleading data. The government has completely lost control on COVID management and handling,” Girish alleged.
Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai has warned the State government of approaching the judiciary through a Public Interest Litigation if the government doesn’t get the two floors of the District Hospital of South Goa opened to treat COVID-19 patients.
Vijai said that the spike in Fatorda is exceeding even Margao and there is an urgent need for beds for the patients, who need medical attention suffering COVID-19. “There is a need for beds and the Health Minister is He warned that if the government doesn’t open facilities they will knock the doors or the judiciary with a PIL filed by the Goans.
