PANJIM: The e-tender for setting up Rs 240 crore proposed Solid Waste Management facility at Bainguinim, considered to be a centralised facility for Goa, will be issued in next two days.

Minister for Waste Management Michael Lobo on Monday held a review meeting on the proposed facility, during which he finalised the tender document and directed the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) that the same be forwarded to Panjim MLA Atanasio Monserrate and the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) for inputs.
“The tender document is ready and in next two days it will be uploaded inviting applications,” Lobo said. The plant will come up at 1.71 lakh sq mtrs of land at Bainguinim and will treat 250 tons of waste per day.
Meanwhile, he also took review of ongoing remediation work at Sonsodo garbage dump. “The remediation process is complete and from October the RDF will be transported,” he said. Lobo said that the government has decided to set up seven to eight biomethanation processing units within the Sonsodo Garbage Treatment Plant premises, till the Cacora plant becomes reality.
He said that due to paucity of space within Sonsodo plant, these units will be set up in phases, beginning with the processing of 15 ton waste. “The final call on setting up of the plant will be taken in consultation with Margao Municipal Council,” the minister said.
