MAPUSA: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar on Thursday thanked the Goans for reposing trust in the party, while addressing the people in Aldona Constituency participating in a digital membership programme.
Chodankar said that digital membership has taken place after fixing the snags, which occurred initially.
“Everywhere we are receiving overwhelming response and people are complaining about the situation created by the present BJP government who is trying to sell Goa to crony capitalist friends of Narendra Modi,” he said.
He convinced people about the BJP resorting to ‘dadagiri’ to suppress the voice of people and said that Rahul Gandhi is the only leader fighting fearlessly against the Modi government and exposing their wrong deeds.
When people complained about the inflation and rising prices of fuel, he said that the BJP used people of Goa to gain votes by promising them petrol rate upto Rs 60 and now looting them.
“Petrol is the best example to prove that BJP doesn’t keep its word, be it on railway double tracking, fuel or any other issues in Goa. Now people need to be vigilant of their political tricks,” Chodankar urged.
He further assured to visit people in the villages to listen to their grievances.
“We stand with the people of Goa and also with our farmers, whom this government is trying to cheat,” Chodankar said.
He said that with the membership drive receiving good response, the new entrants will help Congress to strengthen at grass root level.
Amarnath Panjikar also lambasted the functioning of BJP and said that Congress will not allow the government to suppress the voice of people.
Dharma Chodankar, Vishwas Nagvekar and others also spoke during the meeting.
