MARGAO: Dismissing Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed’s charge that the Indian Mujahideen was born post-Gujarat riots, BJP minority leader Sheikh Jina on Tuesday accused the Congress for playing divisive politics to stop Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi from becoming the country’s next Prime Minister.
“It’s not the Gujarat riots that gave birth to Indian Mujahideen, but the outfit was born during the Congress regime,” Jina told the media.
He said the Congress should tell the country what the party has done for uplifting the Muslim community in the last seven years. “The Congress has turned jittery with the support and response Modi is receiving all over the country. The party will not be able to garner Muslim votes this time round,” Jina said.
