MARGAO: Opposing the demonetisation of old Rs 500/1000 notes by the Central Government, the Congress party on Monday held protests and a rally in Margao.
Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of putting the people of Goa especially farmers and poor into trouble, GPCC president Luizinho Faleiro alleged that the BJP has been blinded by power.
“80 people died due to the BJP’s “insensitivity”, which had already been criticised by the Supreme Court by calling it as carpet bombing,” Luizinho charged.
“BJP had claimed to bring back the black money from Swiss banks but they have miserably failed to do so. On the contrary, the BJP has sent thousands of crores of rupees abroad,” Luizinho alleged.
“RTIs have revealed that the corporates close to BJP have NPAs over Rs 8 lakh crore and demonetisation is the plot to waive the same,” he further alleged.
Digambar Kamat, Babu Azgaonkar and several other Congress leaders and workers were present at the rally and protests, which commenced at Pimpalkatta, Margao.
