Cong leader Mulla joins Goa Forward

PANJIM: Congress party’s State unit Vice President Akbar Mulla, who is one of the accused in the Goa Cricket Association’s (GCA) multi-crore scam, on Sunday joined the Goa Forward Party (GFP), the coalition partners in the Manohar Parrikar led government.
GFP, while granting clean chit to Mulla in the alleged misappropriation of fund case claiming to be ‘falsely implicated’, hinted that government may introduce a legislation whereby all the sports bodies will be free of any political interference.
Welcoming Mulla into the party, GFP President and Minister for Agriculture Vijay Sardessai said that the Goa is witnessing political climate change for better future. “More and more people are willing to unite with the movement of Goa, Goen and Goemkarpon,” he said.
Sardessai said that Congress leaders have slowly started feeling being used and thrown. “Congress has turned into a private limited party which is deserted now,” he said.
When asked about Mulla being accused of multi-crore scam, Minister gave him a clean chit stating that he was falsely implicated in the case. “The forensic report has clearly said that the signature is not his and forged. This means he was implicated in the case falsely by someone. He was fixed in that case,” he said.
Speaking about his entry into GFP, Mulla said that he felt betrayed and used by the Congress top brass for their selfish gain. “I was associated with Congress for 40 years. But today, after so many years, I finally realized that Congress is using the minorities as their vote bank and for purpose of canvassing during election,” he said.
Mulla has appealed all the minorities in the State not to support the Congress party anymore. “Congress has not future left in Goa. They have those same old faces ruling. Goa Forward is the only alternative,” he said.
