VASCO: Unidentified miscreants vandalised two vehicles, including that of Congress leader from Mormugao, Sankalp Amonkar and another vehicle owned by Congress supporter from Mormugao.
According to sources, the rear windscreen of an Innova owned by Amonkar was smashed outside his house in Dabolim.
Speaking to reporters, Amonkar’s wife Shradha who is also MMC Councillor said that after hearing some noise on Saturday, she rushed out of the house only to find her husband’s car damaged. “The incident seems to be fallout of political rivalry and therefore I strongly demand that police should conduct fair probe into the case and should book the culprits as soon as possible, otherwise similar incidents would continue to happen,” she said.
She further added, “I was shocked to hear that unidentified miscreants also vandalised another vehicle owned by Congress supporter from Mormugao. The accused damaged the windscreen of an Alto owned by Guru Salgaonkar that was parked outside his house and all this had happened when my husband is not in town.
Reacting to Shradha’s allegation, Power Minister Milind Naik claimed, “it is really serious as someone might be trying to create confusion between Congress and BJP supporters. Few weeks ago about seven vehicles owned by BJP supporters from Mormugao were vandalised by unknown miscreants and today miscreants damaged two vehicles selectively but at different locations. BJP believes in fair politics and our supporters will never indulge in such act. I have already asked the police to conduct a thorough probe and the culprits will be nabbed soon.”
Meanwhile, the police in Vasco as well as in Mormugao have registered a case against unknown miscreants in both the cases.
