PANJIM: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday accused senior national leaders of Congress of having links with the kingpin in the alleged prostitution racket, wherein police had raided a hotel in Campal and found girls entertaining customers.
The BJP also alleged that the ‘prostitution racket’ in the State has been going on with the blessings of erstwhile Congress government.
Addressing a press conference, BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar said that the kingpin- Ram Prasad Ghanta, who was arrested during a raid on a dance bar has links with senior national leaders of congress. Ghanta is currently in police custody.
“Ram Prasad Ghanta, was seen playing host to the central Congress leaders during their stay in Goa. Ghanta was looking after every need of these leaders right from eating, drinking, staying, etc,” Tendulkar said demanding an in-depth investigation into the racket.
“Everyone involved in the case should be investigated thoroughly. Even their links with others should be probed. The senior Congress leaders should also be investigated,” Tendulkar demanded.
The BJP chief refused to name the leaders but stated that all those Congress central leaders who were in-charge of Goa before Digvijay Singh were hosted by Ghanta.
“I am not naming anyone …you people find out,” he said to media persons when asked if he was referring to Sudhakar Reddy and Jagmit Singh Brar, who were holding the charge as Goa desk in-charge before Singh.
The BJP president accused former Congress government of shielding prostitution racket in the State. He also said that the Congress MLA Pandurang Madkaikar himself had lodged the complaint about the racket, following which police acted.
“He did it to expose his own leaders to settle scores due to party’s internal differences,” he alleged.
Panaji police had arrested six people including UP MLA Mahendra Singh during the raid on dance bar on Monday late night and had rescued six girls.
Congress MLA Pandurang Madkaikar himself had lodged a complaint about sex racket, following which police acted; he did it to settle scores, said BJP leader Tendulkar
