Cong leaders plotted to end my political career: Mickky
Says Alemaos promoted Valanka in Benaulim during jail term

Accusing the Alemao family for promoting Valanka in Benaulim when he was framed and put behind bars in the Nadia Torrado death case, former tourism minister Mickky Pacheco on Tuesday charged Congress leaders for hatching a conspiracy to finish him politically by taking advantage of the episode.
“When I decided to quit the Ministry, I told my NCP leaders that I want to come out clean and I have come out clean. I find nothing in the case. Even my NCP leadership knows that I was politically framed”, he said.
Saying it is for his party leadership to decide on the NCP-Congress alliance in the State, Pacheco, however, declined to comment whether he would favour continuation of the alliance, saying he would submit a confidential report to the party leadership.
Asserting that he stands by his word that the Chief Minister poisoned Sharad Pawar’s mind which finally led to his resignation from the Cabinet, Pacheco reiterated his demand for a CBI inquiry into the drug nexus and excise scam.
Pacheco said the PWD Minister is pushing his family into politics to secure the PWD portfolio for the next 10 years. “But, money is not everything in politics”, he said, adding that the Income Tax should raid these people to find out where the money has come from and where the money is invested.
Referring to Churchill’s statement at Benaulim that younger brother Joaquim is not part of his family since he is staying separately, the Benaulim MLA said the people are wise enough to understand that the PWD Minister is pushing his family into politics. “Like the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Alemao can push his daughter into politics, while Joaquim is bound to ask a ticket for his son. Other brothers of the Alemao family can also ask for tickets for their sons”, he said.
Replying to a question, he said people will finally decide which constituency he will contest in the next polls and reiterated that he would gather the people of Goa to give good governance.
When told that Valanka is ready to take on anyone in Benaulim, Pacheco shot back “she may be ready to take on anybody, but it is the people who will finally decide. One should remember that no one can get elected without people’s support”.
Referring to Churchill’s remark at Benaulim that he won the last elections by a whisker, Pacheco said ‘No doubt, I won the polls by a narrow margin. But, Churchill should find out what margin he had lost the 2002 election against me despite being the senior politician. I have made history by getting elected thrice in eight years”.
Reiterating that the Congress leaders hatched a conspiracy to finish him politically, Pacheco said all his phones were being tapped since the last six months ever since he organized the massive NCP convention at Betalbatim. “Apparently, the Congress believed that the NCP would make inroads in South after the convention”, he added.
