CANACONA: Opposition Leader Pratapsingh Rane along with Congress Spokesperson Reginaldo Lourenco visited the Ruby Residency building collapse site late Sunday evening.
Rane took a tour around the collapsed building and enquired about the progress made by rescue teams and the number of people saved and the number of lives lost.
When asked, Rane said proper enquiry should be made to ascertain the cause of the incident and avert such incidents in future to save precious human lives.
Former Canacona MLA Vijay Poi Khot also accompanied Rane and briefed on the incident which not only shocked the taluka, but entire State.
According to Khot, some faulty designing led to the mishap and he did not wish to cast aspersions on the quality of construction works.
ZP Daya Pagi also briefed Rane on the slow progress of rescue operations and authorities’ reported lackadaisical approach to the entire tragedy.
Congress Spokesperson Reginaldo Lourenco, speaking to local Congressmen including Janardhan Bhandari, Canacona block Congress Committee President Elvis Fernandes, assured them to visit again on Monday and take stock of the failures on the government’s part to ensure safety of human lives at the Ruby Residency and other parts of Canacona.
