AAP inaugurates North, South Goa offices

MARGAO: The Aam Admi Party opened its South Goa office at Gogol-Margao on Sunday with pop star Remo Fernandes saying that he will have to do a lot of soul searching before taking any decision to contest the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
The party also opened it North Goa office in Panjim on Sunday.
He also said that young people who had voted for the BJP in the 2012 Assembly polls are today disappointed and frustrated as the ruling government has belied their expectations.
”It is not enough to throw out the corrupt. We have to replace the corrupt with politicians who will clean up the system, which sadly has not taken place in Goa,” he said.
Asked whether he would contest the coming Lok Sabha polls or not, Remo said “Whether I will contest or not is a pre-mature question. I have only joined as an ordinary member. But, If I am asked to contest, I will have to do a lot of soul searching,” he added.
Replying to another question, he said people who are craving for power or money will have no place in the AAP Party. “The reason is simple. Because the party is striving to do away with a system which promotes power and corruption”, he added.
On the Canacona tragedy, Remo said it is a blatant example of corruption and demanded that those who have lost their lives should be compensated.
PANJIM REPORTER ADDS: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced that it will hold a national membership drive, beginning January 10.
The party, which yesterday announced it would contest both Lok Sabha seats from the state, began its first membership drive on December 19.
Membership of the party is open to all citizens of India who are not members of any other political party and who are willing to subscribe to the ideals that the AAP has vowed to protect.
The two offices located at F-8 Souza towers, opposite the Jardim Garcia da Orta in Panjim.
He, however, hastened to add that the party will take a call if any party offers a tie-up with AAP.
Meanwhile, an Indian settled abroad, J Mishra, who had returned back to the country to support AAP in the Delhi polls, on Sunday appealed to Goans to come out and defeat the two sitting MPs from Goa for doing nothing for the State.
