‘Cong never promoted new faces’

VASCO: Disagreeing with the Goa Congress’ statement about promoting new faces, Dabolim MLA and Congress member Mauvin Godinho pointed that the party never allowed new faces to grow.

“I was a new face. Perhaps I would have led the Congress to power and become chief minister as a new face, but a few Congress leaders wanted to promote themselves. That brought about the Congress’ downfall, and thus, I don’t agree with what the Congress leaders are talking about promoting new faces,” said Godinho.
When asked about whether he had received any invitation to attend the party workers meeting in Cortalim, Godinho said, “I received a message from the office about the Congress melava, but I don’t understand why they still send me notices when I am not participating and not even attending their meeting.”
Godinho also questioned the silence of senior Congress leaders on his remarks of leaving the party. He said, “I wonder why absolute juniors, who have no standing in society, are replying to what I say. I wish that the people who are responsible for Congress’ downfall will speak against me. I am totally prepared for a public debate, where I can give proof as to how these leaders have let down Congress in Goa. But please don’t let junior people answer me as it has no meaning.”
