PANJIM: The opposition Congress on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should speak on collapsing law and order, diversion of river Mhadei and sex scandal involving a former Minister among others during his visit to Goa on Sunday,

Stating that Modi’s visit to Goa is important as the State is celebrating its 60th year of liberation, Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat said the Prime Minister is visiting Goa when there is collapsing law and order, atrocities on women, job recruitment scam and involvement of a minister in the sex scandal.
Kamat said the Prime Minister should reply to the questions such as misdeeds of the BJP government like making Goa a coal hub, a drug destination and destruction of identity of Goa.
The Prime Minister should respond to the involvement of a former Minister in the sex scandal and the recent Rs 70 crore job racket in PWD as alleged by three ruling BJP MLAs, he said. Modi should also answer why government allowed diversion of river Mhadei and rising prices of fuel and cooking gas.
Kamat opposed the Major Ports Bill passed by Parliament and feared that the proposed Marina project at Nauxim, Bambolim will damage the environment.
He said the Goa government had also not finalised the Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) and COVID-19 mismanagement and deaths of people due to shortage of oxygen in the Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim.
Former Union Minister Ramakant Khalap said the Prime Minister should answer why the BJP government diluted Goa Lokayukta and why none of the reports submitted by it implemented.
The Prime Minister should answer why the indictment by the Lokayukta is not taken into consideration by the government.
Khalap sought to know why the BJP government is silent to the issue of Cumeri cultivators and failure to implement the Tribals Sub Plan. He said Modi should make a mention of the Special Status for Goa to protect its land and resources failing which, he said, Goans will be reduced to minority in its own State.
Khalap said the Prime Minister should tell the people when mining activity will be restarted in Goa.
