BICHOLIM: Sanquelim Congress on Friday demanded an inquiry into the construction of water tank built around two years ago in Kudnem, Sanquelim, which is kept unused.

Former Sanquelim MLA Pratap Gawas stated that the tank has become useless as there is not a single drop of water in it. They feel that it has become a white elephant and is a waste of money.

“When this water tank was constructed we had hoped that the water scarcity problem would be solved but two years down the line the situation is still the same,” said Gawas.

As per the available information, the government had demolished the earlier water tank and had constructed a new one in its place. But the residents and Congress state that the new tank is still to be used.

“The government has spent so much money to build this tank but they are least bothered about supplying water in this tank. It is just the waste of money. We demand inquiry into this,” Gawas stated.

“We feel that this was an unplanned project as Kudnem people are still suffering with water problem and there is not a single drop of water in this tank. This is a total waste of government fund,” said Sanquelim Youth Congress President Mangaldas Naik.
