MAPUSA: The North Goa Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday alleged that the BJP government has failed eradicate drug trade in the State.
Congress Spokesperson Amarnath Panjikar said that there has been immense increase in drug trade in the State; from the coastal belt, the drugs have now reached in the villages.
“Police arrested a Nigerian with drugs in Pomburfa on Monday and last week ketamine drug was seized in Pissurlem. However, the Chief Minister is not talking anything about this burning issue,” he said.
Lives of youth have been ruined due to easy availability of drugs.
“Previously the drugs sale use to happen only on the beach belt. However, it has now reached the villages and young boys are getting their hand on it,” he said.
Since the chief minister himself is not talking anything about this burning issue, it looks like the government has no serious intention to tackle the drug issue,” Panjikar commented.
“Irrespective who is running the drug trade, the government should take stern action against those who are involved in drug and if the actions are not taken then the drug menace will ruin the society,” Panjikar warned.
