PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Saturday alleged corruption in the salary disbursement of home guards as they are paid for 26 days but are told to sign muster roll for 30 days
Speaking to media persons at the Congress House, Panjim, Congress general secretary Vijay Bhike said that the State government was full of scams and corruption. There is corruption in home guard department also. No ESI is paid to them inspite of Supreme Court directives to do so.
“They do not get salary on time. They sign for salary on first of every month which is however paid on the 20th day. Who is siphoning off four or five days salary every month,” questioned Bhike.
Bhike hit out at the Sawant government over the State ranking second in unemployment survey. He said, on earlier occasions also, the government had announced that they would provide job to unemployed educated youth. Even job fairs were organised and interviews were conducted. But the interviews were conducted for corruption, he charged.
Demanding that the government should tell the people of Goa how money jobs were provided, he said that again as the Lok Sabha elections are fast approaching, the BJP-led government will tell the people that they would provide jobs. He appealed to the people to see the unemployment data which is clear that the State has ranked second in the country.
Taking a dig at the eight rebel Congress MLAs who joined the BJP in September last year, Bhike said that defector MLAs had stated that they had joined the ruling party for the development. What sort of development is this?, he asked.
