PANJIM: Breaking its silence, the Congress party took a jibe at Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for intimidating the Opposition calling it “degradation of thoughts.”
“I feel it is degradation of thoughts by Parrikar. It is at a low level…,” Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Subhash Shirodkar said during a press conference at Congress House Tuesday.
The statement comes a day after chief minister told a BJP executive committee meeting that corrupt former Congress ministers should face action and even arrest for their involvement in graft-related offences.
“It is quite possible he (Parrikar) can put anybody behind bars if he thinks his government is in trouble,” Shirodkar alleged.
CLP spokesman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, who was also present at the press conference, intervened to echo the same opinion.
“He is doing this to silence the Opposition. If the need arises, we will unite and fight back,” he added.
Parrikar had claimed during the BJP meeting Monday that action would be initiated against Congress MLAs Chandrakant Kavlekar and Atanasio Monserrate before Diwali. He had also assured action against ex-ministers Churchill Alemao in the PWD scam, Digambar Kamat and Vishwajit Rane.
