PANJIM: The Congress Party, Goa has warned that it would approach the EC against the local Chief Election Office officials, accusing them of being hand in gloves with the BJP-led government.
The State unit has also decided to raise the matter with their high command. We are scared the way chief electoral office is functioning. They are hand in gloves with those at the Secretariat (Goa government),” party spokesperson Durgadas Kamat told a press conference at Congress House.
Kamat was referring to complaints of violation of code of conduct by two officials of chief minister’s office – Joint Secretary Siddharth Cuncolienkar and Officer on Special Duty Giriraj Pai Vernekar for using their Facebook accounts to canvass for the BJP.
“The EC officials have just sought a response to notices issued to them. If the local election office fails to take strict action against them, we will move the EC against all of them,” he warned. The CEO, this week, granted them seven days time to respond.
The complaint copy to CEO had attached photocopies of the Facebook walls of both the government officials. The Congress had also accused chief minister Manohar Parrikar of violating the code of conduct after he allegedly tweeted about his government’s plans to unveil investment-cum-industrial policy giving jobs to 50,000 people by this month end.
