Cong to approach President demanding sacking of Governor

PANJIM: The Congress party has decided to approach the President of India demanding sacking of Goa Governor Mridula Sinha for having been instrumental in creating political and economic crisis in Goa.
“She should resign on moral grounds or we will petition the President (Ram Nath Kovind) for her removal, because she is the only reason why Goa is in crisis. Her mistake was to not invite the single largest party (Congress) to form the government in 2017. As a result of her bias towards BJP, the economy of Goa has collapsed, youths see no future for themselves and loans are increasing. Goa is in a big problem and she has been unable to solve it,” Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar said at a press conference on Sunday.
Soon after the 2017 election results were announced, the Congress had sought an appointment from the Governor to stake the claim as it emerged single largest party with 17 seats while BJP had slipped to 13 seats. When things took a turn, the Congress alleged that despite established principle and constitution, the Governor did not call them and instead gave a chance to the second largest party.
Chodankar further alleged that Sinha was “behaving like a BJP women’s wing leader” than being a custodian of the Indian Constitution. Citing her inclination towards the BJP and being neglectful to the needs of the people including the aggrieved mining dependents, Chodankar said they would boycott her ‘high tea’ invitation on the Liberation Day on December 19.
