PANJIM: Sending clear signals that Congress will not ally with its traditional partner, the NCP, ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, the party is all set to recommend names of its probably candidates both for North and South Goa seats to its high command by November end.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Subhash Shirodkar told mediapersons Tuesday that party has already shortlisted names of eight probable candidates ~four each in North and South Goa and the same would be finalized and sent to the high command by month end.
“We know who our prominent candidates are and their names have been shortlisted,” Shirodkar said. The Congress president said that the party is currently in the process of revamping itself at block, taluka, district and state levels.
“Inefficient workers have been kept aside while opportunity is being given to young minds…in coming two months you will see the change,” he stated. The Congress on Tuesday appointed three new block presidents- Prashant Chanekar for Bicholim, David Fernandes for Benaulim and Helario for Mormugao.
Meanwhile, Shirodkar said that there is a negative wave against the BJP for their failure on various fronts. He said that Congress during its three month long review meetings on the functioning of government has observed that the people are unhappy with Manohar Parrikar led government, which has misruled the State.
“No matter what the BJP claims on governance, the fact is that it has failed to deliver on that very front,” Shirodkar said adding ‘mis-governance on the part of government has rendered over one lakh families jobless and the number will go up in five years time’.
Pointing to the Chief Minister’s recent letter to Union Home Ministry on filling of top posts in police force, Shirodkar said that ‘incapability of the State government to handle the toppling law and order situation, has forced them to point fingers at the Centre’. “People are been misguided on the issue of administration,” he added.
