Cong to summon Mauvin

PANJIM: Congress rebel legislator from Dabolim Mauvin Godinho, would be summoned by party’s inquiry committee, for his alleged anti-party activities, this week.

State president Luizinho Faleiro had in March, appointed a two-member committee, headed by party general secretary Sunil Kawthankar, to investigate the alleged anti-party activities of Godinho.
Sources said that the committee has already begun its inquiry by recording statements of the booth level workers from Dabolim. This will be followed by issuing summons to Godinho. “Party would like to hear from Godinho over all the allegations levied against him, before taking the final decision,” sources said.
On the committee’s scanner are Godinho’s public statements against the party and his support to candidates of other parties during the parliamentary and zilla panchayat polls. The legislator had even announced to leave Congress and join BJP.  The report will be submitted to the GPCC executive committee within 10 days.
Depending on the report’s contents, the executive committee will decide the future course of action.
It can be recalled that the Congress disciplinary committee headed by then president John Fernandes, with Kawthankar as one of its member, had conducted preliminary investigation against several rebel congressmen including Godinho.
Congress has recently expelled legislator Atanaiso ‘Babush’ Monserrate from the party for a period of six years for his anti-party works.
