Cong wants police to book minister

VASCO: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Sankalp Amonkar along with his supporters gave three days ultimatum to Mormugao Police to book Urban Development Minister Milind Naik and his supporters on the counter complaints registered by his (Amonkar’s) supporters.
Failing to do so, Amonkar has threatened to launch an agitating before Mormugao Police Station with State Congress leaders.
At a press conference here, on Friday evening, Amonkar gave a three-day ultimatum to the Mormugao police to book minister Milind Naik and his supporters for violating Section 144 by organising public meeting when the Act was in force and for cutting the tree branches without having permissions from the concerned authorities.
Amonkar further made allegations on Naik saying he being a Cabinet minister is misusing his position and power and managing police.
He also said that complaints against his supporters are registered on a complaint and on a counter complaint, but no offence is booked against the minister and his supporters.
“Mormugao Police have become puppet of Urban Development Minister Milind Naik,” he stated.
Later, Suraj Chodankar, a local from Sada, said that I don’t understand how can a person saving a tree from getting chopped be booked and not the person who is cutting the tree without having permissions from the Forest Department.
He further opined that Police Department should work impartially without keeping any biases.
Meanwhile, others present namely Shankar Polji and Jayesh Shetgaonkar also demanded that counter complaints registered by them should be considered by the police and an offence must be registered against Naik and his supporters.
