PANJIM: Demanding the immediate sacking of PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar and other officials, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar on Saturday called for an impartial inquiry by three-member committee into the alleged recruitment scam in the Public Works Department.

Speaking to reporters, Chodankar apprehended that free and fair vigilance probe in the PWD job scam cannot take place without sacking of Minister Deepak Pauskar, senior PWD officials, officials from Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and three officers of the Government Polytechnic, Panjim.

Chodankar suspected interference by the Minister and the above officials in the inquiry if they continue in office.

Since Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has ordered an inquiry into the alleged recruitment scam, Chodankar said prima facie the Chief Minister is convinced that there are irregularities in the entire recruitment process and it would be prudent to sack the concerned minister and officials involved in committing the scam.

Following allegation by three ruling BJP legislators that there was job scam to the tune of Rs 70 crore in the PWD, the Chief Minister on Friday constituted a three-member committee to conduct an inquiry and kept on hold the entire ongoing recruitment process in the PWD.
