Cong will win both LS seats: Thakare

VASCO: All India Congress Committee (AICC) Goa incharge Manikrao Thakare on Tuesday said that he was confident that Congress party would not only win both the seats in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections but also form the next government in Goa in 2027.

Speaking to mediapersons Thakare said that it was then Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi who played an instrumental role in having the unique Opinion Poll in a democratic way in Goa and this day must be celebrated in a big way. 

Reacting to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s statement that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win both the Lok Sabha seats with a resounding margin, Thakare said that the statement had no value. 

“In 2019 polls we wrested the South Goa Parliamentary seat and I am very confident that Congress will win both the seats this time with a good margin. Not only the Lok Sabha, we will also win the next Assembly elections in Goa as well,” Thakare said recalling how Congress with only five MLAs returned to power in Telangana last month. 

“We will do the same in Goa and we will form the next government in Goa with the love and blessings of the people,” said Thakare, who was earlier party’s incharge in Telangana.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Amit Patkar said that the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections have already started with meetings in every Assembly segment. He said that the party had have already set up its war room and also activated social media and will soon start the process of shortlisting the candidates, and by this month end month end, the Congress screening committee will visit the State.
