PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar on Wednesday alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was misguiding people on the issue of statement made by INDIA Bloc’s South Goa candidate Capt Viriato Fernandes.
”We should learn from the BJP how to misguide the people from the main issues concerning the state. The clarification with regards to the statement has already been given by Capt Viriato. In fact, the BJP should tell people why rape cases have increased, why there is an increase in murder incidents, was there is no clarity on the mysterious death of Siddhi Naik,” he said.
”I feel I happy that the BJP has finally remembered freedom fighters. They have said that Congress does not respect freedom fighters,” he said and pointed out that freedom fighters were not invited in a programme organised in 2020 which was attended by non-other than President of India.
Patkar claimed that BJP President Sadanand Shet Tanavade’s claim that that Capt Viriato did not allow to hoist flag at St Jacinto island was not true.
Patkar said when Goa was liberated since then itself Indian Constitution got applied to Goans.
“Goa was liberated in 1961 and Indian Constitution came into application since then itself,” he said.
