PANJIM: The opposition Congress party on Tuesday alleged another job scam where candidates who had applied for various posts in the Foods and Drug Administration (FDA) received appointment letters before the exam results were declared.
However, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane strongly refuted the allegation made by the opposition Congress Party.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress House, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar charged that recruitment process has been completed without following any procedure. He said that the applications were invited for 18 posts of food safety officers, 11 posts of assistant chemists’ food, eight posts each of assistant chemists and LDCs, seven posts of pharmacists, two drivers and 1 stenographer in the GDA.
Chodankar alleged that both, the Minister and the FDA director indulged in favouritism and candidates mostly from Valpoi constituency were selected. He said that that the exam paper was set, conducted and assessment was done by the FDA director. He further said that the papers were changed in case of candidates who failed to score highest marks and in some cases papers were burnt and news papers were prepared and the selected candidates were asked to write roll numbers in their own handwriting.
Chodankar said that the Congress party after coming back to power will take all measures to protect the future of the youth. “We request all youth to stop paying for government jobs. We will stop this evil after coming to power,” he said.
The Congress president also showed copies of list of all selected candidates to the media and demanded that the government should stop the ongoing recruitment scam.
On the other hand, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane strongly refuted allegations. He said that Congress president Girish Chodankar was creating sensation by making baseless allegations and harping cheap publicity.
