Congress leader Savio Coutinho on Tuesday alleged that the BJP is attempting to delete the names of genuine voters from the electoral rolls by falsely claiming that they have permanently shifted from their constituencies.
Addressing the media, Coutinho said the alleged fraud is being carried out by filing incorrect objections through Form 7, which is meant for deletion of names from the voters’ list. He claimed that BJP Booth Level Agents (BLAs) are submitting false objections in an attempt to manipulate the electoral process.
Strongly condemning the move, the Congress demanded strict action against those responsible, warning that such practices amount to undermining democracy. Coutinho said the party would oppose any attempt to tamper with the voters’ list and would take the matter to the Election Commission if required.
He appealed to citizens to remain vigilant, verify their names on the electoral rolls and report any irregularities, asserting that protecting the integrity of the voters’ list is essential for free and fair elections.
