The GPCC president announced names of presidents for nine block Congress committees, taking the total number of reconstituted block to 28.
The following are the block Congress committee presidents: Pernem — Rudresh Deshprabhu, Mayem — Rajesh Gaonkar, Sant Andre — Derek Rodrigues, Taleigao — Dnyaneshwar Govekar, Tivim — Umakant Kudnekar, Marcaim — Dnyaneshwar Naik, Sanvordem — Rajendra Shirodkar, Benaulim — Menino Fernandes and Curtorim — Milagris Fernandes.
“The presidents of remaining 11 block committees will be announced shortly,” GPCC Vice President (Organisation) M K Shaikh said.
With a week, the party has replaced newly appointed Curtorim Block President Terancio Fernandes by reappointing Milagris Fernandes, a former panchayat member of Ilha de Rachol Village Panchayat.
When contacted, Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginald Lourenco told Herald that he requested the party to bring back Milagris Fernandes as the president of Curtorim Block Congress Committee so to avoid any misunderstanding among the party workers and supporters.
“Both are my supporters and we will all work in unitedly,” he said.
