PANJIM: Congress on Monday announced its first list of 21 candidates for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections.
Goa Pradesh Congress committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar said that candidates for 11 constituencies in North Goa and 10 in South have been finalized and announced.
Of the total 21, party has given candidature to two female candidates.
In North Goa, the candidates are Narayan Redkar (Arambol), Mahesh Konadkar (Morjim), Satish Chodankar (Colvale), Umakant Kudnekar (Sirsai), Lawerance Silveira ( Calangute), Hemant Melvankar ( Reis Magos), Shinya Almeida ( St Cruz), Govind Mandrekar (Latambarce), Suryakant Gawde ( pale) Ramesh Vithal Gawde Pansekar ( Honda) and Usha Narayan Mest ( Nagargao).
In South Goa, the candidates are Mukund Gawde ( Usgao-Ganje), Prachi Subhash Naik ( Curti), Joseph Vaz ( Rai), Assucian e Rodriguez ( Nuvem), Suzi Fernandes (Colva), Julio Fernandes ( Velim), Royal Fernandes (Benaulim), Michael Rebello (Curtorim), Jose Coelho ( Navelim) and Harshad Desai ( Xeldem).
Congress is expected to contest in 35-40 ZP seats out of the total 50 seats.
