Former Curtorim ZP member Moreno Rebello who had recently joined BJP at a function held in the presence of the Chief Minister, submitted his resignation from the primary membership of BJP today.
Moreno had earlier resigned from Congress after the party had announced that former MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco would be the Congress candidate from Curtorim. Reginaldo had then resigned from Congress and joined TMC. Moreno’s wife Michelle Rebello, the present ZP member, was present for the Congress public meeting in Curtorim where various party leaders criticised Reginaldo for having worked against Michelle during the ZP elections.
Former ZP member from Curtorim Moreno Rebello asks for repentance from God and for forgiveness from the public who were upset when he joined BJP. Says his own son was unhappy that he had joined BJP. Rebello cites attacks on minorities in India as one of the reasons for resigning from BJP. Says he cannot speak about his future plans but as of now is relieved to have left BJP.
Sources stated that Rebello was upset as he did not receive good response in the BJP. He was not getting expected response from the officers despite being projected as party’s future candidate in this constituency. Lourenco’s resignation had also left the candidature from Curtorim vacant though other leaders like Shalom Sardinha had put their claim for the ticket.
