Congress blames govt for Vasco COVID scenario

Files police complaint against CM, Health and Urban Ministers

VASCO: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Sankalp Amonkar filed a police complaint against the Chief Minister, Health Minister and Urban Development Minister holding them responsible for the mismanagement of COVID situation in Vasco, on Tuesday.

Amonkar filed a complaint, at Vasco Police Station against Dr Pramod Sawant, Vishwajit  Rane and Milind Naik, holding all three ministers responsible for the rise in COVID cases and deaths in the port town.

Speaking to the media persons, he said, “There were 36 deaths in Goa due to COVID infection and from that around 22 cases are from the Mormugao Taluka.”

In his complaint, Amonkar stated, “Politicians and people from Vasco had demanded a complete lockdown of Vasco when the first COVID case was detected at Mangor Hill. But this demand was neglected. The Mormugao Municipal Council Councillors and the local MLA had demanded back then that lockdown should be implemented but it fell on the deaf ears.

“Therefore, the Congress demands a proper investigation in the matter and FIRs should be registered against all the three ministers. The ongoing COVID scenario in Vasco is because of the Chief Minister, Health Minister and Urban Development Minister,” Amonkar stated.
