PANJIM: The Congress backed
‘United Panaji Front’ on Wednesday released its manifesto for the Corporation
of the City of Panaji elections promising to reduce house tax and assuring that
no development project in the city would be cleared without adequate parking
plans.

Madkaikar, along with Congress workers and 20 candidates, released the
manifesto which promises to ‘liberate Panjim from scams, match fixing and non
performance’. “Time has come to bring in change. And hence we appeal to the people
to vote and elect clean, honest, young, performing candidates,” Madkaikar said.
The manifesto broken up into
four heads – infrastructure, administrative reforms, health and sanitation
facilities and tourism and heritage – assures 24×7 water and electricity supply
and free WIFI.
“Panjim deserves good
governance, freedom from dictatorship and politics of joint venture, which has
constantly made people suffer,” the MLA said.
Amongst the common promises
highlighted in the manifesto are good footpaths, proper parking facilities,
decongestion of traffic, desiltation and beautification of St Inez Creek and Ourem
creek, completion of third phase of municipal market, football ground,
e-governance, streamlined garbage collection, maintenance of heritage sites,
etc.
All three panels – Panjim
First (BJP), Progress for Panjim (Monserrate) and United Panjim Front – have
released their manifestos with similar promises. The elections will be held on
March 6 and counting will take place on March 8.
