PANJIM: Congress has alleged that there is a job scam in the River Navigation Dept, under the stewardship of RND Minister Milind Naik. Naik resigned later in the day.
Posting a video on its official facebook page of Congress, GPCC President Girish Chodankar said the recruitment was ‘fast tracked’ or done in a great hurry. The advertisement announcing the posts of sailors in the River Navigation Dept was issued in November 2021. The written test is slated for December 18.
As per River Navigation Recruitment Rules, like in the Police Department, the GPCC President claimed, first there is a physical test. Those who pass in the physical test, then appear for the written test. In the case of the River Navigation Dept, the physical test consists of swimming.
Since govt is in a hurry to recruit, they will do the written test first, and because we have raised the issue, now they may have the physical test, Girish claimed. “If government wants, they can do anything. I have warned Captain of Ports Capt. James Braganza not to fall into this trap of RND Minister Milind Naik, since you will have to sign the order. I also told him we will not tolerate injustice to applicants,” said Girish. “I also told him to conduct the swimming test first and then the written test,” added Girish.
As per his information the ‘market value’ of a sailor’s job is Rs 10 lakh, disclosed Girish. Altogether there are 13 posts which have been announced. In this department too, the same person is setting the paper and correcting it, said Girish.
