PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) delegation led by Vice President Sankalp Amonkar on Tuesday gheraoed officials of Directorate of Mines demanding immediate action into the illegal selling of iron ore worth Rs 3.50 crore by a firm owned by Urban Development Minister Milind Naik.
The delegation has given three-day ultimatum to the department for necessary action, failing which has threatened to prepare for consequences.
The delegation submitted memorandum to the department, wherein Amonkar alleged that the DMG, Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) staff are hand in gloves with the minister, who owns the firm Essar Minmet and stevedore is M. N. Construction (MNC), which is involved in illegal excavation, screening, transportation and loading of iron ore without necessary permits from DMG.
The supplier of cargo to the vessel is Kodee Resources.
Amonkar said that the Kodee Resources in connivance with MNC has attempted to extract ore from the ground within the port premises which is of 58 Grade in substitution of his previous bid ore which is of about 50 Grade.
“This amounts to a clear case of theft and misappropriation,” he charged demanding an inquiry through CBI or Crime Branch.
The Kodee Resources has to be blacklisted with immediate effect and all cargo in his possession should be seized, he said.
