PANJIM: Senior Congress leader Jitendra Deshprabhu has expressed his willingness to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from North Goa.
Speaking to media persons, Deshprabhu said that he has expressed his desire before the party high command and is waiting for their reply. “I have shown my interest to contest Lok Sabha election, but it is for the party high command to decide. I am waiting for their communication,” he said.
Deshprabhu had contested Lok Sabha election in 2009 on Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ticket. Though his name was in discussion for 2014 general elections, post joining Congress, the party had named Ravi Naik as it candidate from North Goa, who lost to BJP’s Shripad Naik.
