Congress dissolves all block committees

The Congress in a similar fashion dissolved its block committees in June 2019 after 10 of its MLAs had quit the party.

PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has dissolved all block Committees with immediate effect. The order of dissolution has been issued by GPCC General Secretary Sunil Kawthankar. 

Kawthankar stated that all 40 block Congress committees stand dissolved and will be reconstituted in consultation with respective Congress workers in due course of time. This is one of many aftereffects of the en masse exodus of the Congress MLAs recently.

The Congress before the Assembly Elections 2022 had lost 16 of its 17 MLAs with Ravi Naik and Luizinho Faleiro quitting the party on the face of the election. Hardcore supporters and office bearers of Congress had already begun quitting the party even before the party dissolved the blocks. 

It will be interesting to see by when the grand old party begins the process of reformation of their blocks.
