PANJIM: In a show of strength, the election campaign office for Goa Pradesh Congress Committee in Panjim was inaugurated by senior Congressman and former Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane in the presence of All India Congress Committee (AICC) election officer for Goa and several other State leaders.

The participation of Rane at the function was seen as a sign of unity with the Poriem MLA talking about how the party workers, be it the senior or junior, should hold hands together and move forward in their endeavour to win the upcoming Assembly elections.

It may be recalled that there was speculation about Rane’s position with the party after having met BJP leader and Goa election-in-charge Devendra Fadnavis at his residence recently. However, Chidambaram too met Rane at his residence earlier this week and Goa’s senior-most MLA sought to inspire the party cadre at the office inauguration.

Pointing out that it is centrally located which makes it accessible to the public, for whom the party is always working for, Rane also mentioned that the office opening is just before the auspicious occasion of Dussehra. He used an analogy to describe the 2022 Assembly election as a ‘battle of love’ and referred to the numerous development-related works Congress had ushered in the State when it was running the government.

He lamented that after the Congress government there was a gap in such development works and progress of the State and that Congress would once again bring up a new Goa.

The office inauguration was also attended by Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha, GPCC president Girish Chodankar, GPCC working president Aleixo Sequeira and former union minister Ramakant Khalap.

who interacted with the party cadre and expressed confidence that the people would vote for Congress in the elections and the party would get majority seats.
