Congress plans to reconstitute Shiroda block committee

Says voters will teach Shirodkar a lesson for betraying them by joining BJP

PONDA: Shocked over the resignation of former MLA Subhash Shirodkar, who recently joined the BJP, the Congress held a meeting with its workers and plans to reconstitute its Shiroda block committee.
Congress president Girish Chodankar held meeting in Panchawadi Panchayat area and deliberated on rebuilding the party in Shiroda constituency.  The party has already dissolved its Shiroda Block Committee following Shirodkar’s entry into the BJP.
Chodankar said, “The party will decide on new candidate to contest upcoming Shiroda by-poll after taking all party workers into confidence. He appealed to the party workers to shun their differences, remain united and helping in rebuilding the party in Shiroda. He called upon them to work to ensure the party candidate’s victory in bye-election and added that this time the voters will teach Shirodkar a lesson for betraying them by joining the BJP.
He said the Congress’ main aim is to defeat Shirodkar in the by-election.
Chodankar said the party meeting will be held in Borim Panchayat on October 23 to discuss on strengthening the party in Shiroda. Meanwhile, Chodankar along with Party’s Goa Desk in Charge Chellakumar held discussion with ZP member Jaydeep Shirodkar regarding support to the party.
Jaydeep said he is capable of winning the by-election if Congress considers him as candidate.
