PANJIM: Like many other State units, rushing to endorse Rahul Gandhi’s name for president in a tsunami of sycophancy, elected and co-opted members of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Tuesday passed a resolution demanding that Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi be appointed as Congress President.
But it’s the second resolution that was more significant. Newly elected GPCC delegates from Goa authorised the “Congress president” to nominate the next GPCC president, executive committee members, office-bearers, AICC members and co-opted members. This is a clear sign the party does not want any organisational elections and has the high command’s handpicked blue-eyed boy or girl as the next president
While some members who were present did not sign the resolution and may sign later, Girish Chodankar was not even present during the meeting but signed as a delegate passing the resolution.
Herald was informed of this by sources who attended the meeting and confirmed Chodankar was “nowhere there”. “How can this happen?” The newly elected PCC members asked alleging that it was an attempt to bring Chodankar back as the GPCC president through the back door.
In another goof-up, the press note sent to the media reads: “A meeting of new elected PCC delegates from Goa was held on September 20, 2022, at Congress House, Panjim. Shri Mohan Joshi, Pradesh Returning Officer, Goa, presided over the meeting. _____ Pradesh delegates attended the meeting.”
The blank space left before the word delegates gives scope to tamper with the number count to even show all delegates voted not to have elections but nominations to key party posts.
