PANJIM: Ahead of the Assembly elections, Congress on Saturday released a 21-point “charge sheet” against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) highlighting the government’s failure to maintain law and order, protect environment, providing safety to women besides other issues.
Addressing the media, GPCC president Girish Chodankar said, “Congress, as a party of opposition had gone to submit the charge sheet to the Governor of Goa on Friday. Congress leaders and supporters were stopped by heavy police force. BJP government is not only murdering the democracy but also is stopping the Governor from carrying out his constitutional duties. Congress had fixed the meeting with the Governor on Friday, which was cancelled at the behest of BJP leaders”, said Chodankar.
In a 16-page charge sheet, recalling the unsolved murder cases of Siddhi Naik and Swapnil Walke, Chodankar said, “The CM has completely failed to maintain the law and order in the State. Rise in crime rate, failure to provide social security, injustice on farmers and fishing community, illegalities in land conversions and injustice on artist community point out to how badly this government has failed in every aspect.”
He alleged that the BJP government has failed to ensure development of State. The collapse of health infrastructure, mismanagement of medical facilities, improper infrastructure development, damage to industrial sector of Goa, failure to support co-operative sector, inconsistent network connectivity, inadequate public bus transport facilities, damage to heritage sites and tourism sector are few things to point out, he added.
“Insensitive, irresponsible, immature, illegitimate, corrupt and failed BJP government has failed to bring Suramya Goa, Santuleet Goa, Susanskrut Goa, Suvidha Goa, Samrudha Goa, Sushaseet Goa and Swanandi Goa from “Goa Vision 2035 Document” into reality”.
