Congress releases roadmap for 2035

AICC leader and MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday released Congress party’s manifesto – Roadmap for Goa Vision 2035 – for the February 14 Assembly elections.

The 75-page manifesto promises to scrap the three linear projects and protect the environment, forest and wildlife. It also promises to cap petrol and diesel prices at Rs 80 per litre.

It also promises to scrap Section 16-B of Town and Country Planning (TCP) Act and to formulate a comprehensive Regional Plan for the development of Goa within two years.

The manifesto also promises a ‘Nyay’ scheme wherein every poor family would be given monthly financial support amounting to Rs 6000 to take care of their domestic expenditure.

It said free education would be provided to the poor and deserving students till graduation besides free skill-oriented training. The party has promised to provide 30 per cent reservation for women in government jobs and to fill up all vacant government posts including reserved posts within six months of coming to power. It says the party will encourage the private sector to reserve jobs for women.

Besides creating opportunities through tourism policies, sustainable mining and development of commerce, trade and industry, the party has promised to strengthen the Panchayati Raj Act and empower the municipalities.

On the health front, the manifesto said autonomy would be provided to Goa Medical College (GMC) and the number of medical seats at MBBS and post-graduate level would be increased. Also the District Hospitals would be elevated with super-specialty facilities.

Stating that the public bus transport system (Kadamba) is outdated and mostly inadequate, the party promises to expand and modernise the public bus transport system and make it the most popular and convenient mode of travel for the people.
