PANJIM: Congress will launch a new programme `Connecting Nizacho Congressman’ from April 15, with a view to honour the contribution of loyal Congressmen.
Speaking to reporters after chairing the office-bearers meeting at the Congress House, here, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar said that these “Niz Congressmen” are assets and energy of the Congress and hence party leaders will go and meet them at their residences.
“We will visit all 40 Assembly constituencies and spend time with our loyal Congressmen, who have a feeling that they are neglected by party and take suggestions from them to grow the Congress party in the State,” he said.
“We have to reconnect them with Congress party and also honour them,” he added.
According to Chodankar, “there are many Congressmen, sympathisers, well wishers and traditional voters in Goa, who have always voted for Congress and helped to strengthen the organisation in the past. They still have feeling that only the Congress can give justice to the people.”
Chodankar said that every block Congress committee will identify veteran Congressman in their respective block and recommend their names to the GPCC.
Chodankar said that the party leaders will spend whole day with veteran Congressmen in every constituency.
Meanwhile, the GPCC office-bearers and block committee presidents also met to discuss various issues concerning the State. The meeting also decided to promote the party’s ongoing digital membership drive, Chodankar said.
Chodankar further informed that booth committees will be reconstituted in all Assembly constituencies ahead of next Assembly elections.
The GPCC also condoled the death of former Minister Harish Zantye, who died last month.
