PANJIM: The Congress on Tuesday decided to make people aware of the government’s failure to protect river Mhadei during its ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyaan’ to be launched across the State from January 26.

After chairing a meeting of party office-bearers at the Congress House here, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Amit Patkar said that they discussed the issue of diversion of Mhadei river following Central Water Commission (CWC) approving Detailed Project report (DPR) of Karnataka government for Kalasa-Bhandura dam project.

He said that Block and booth committee members will visit every household and apprise people about the government failures on all fronts and also its failure in protecting Mhadei river.

In the meetings, discussions were held regarding the preparations for launching ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyaan’ on Republic Day in the State. The committee will meet again to finalise the programme.
