MARGAO: Congress has said that it would approach the court and get the FIR registered against the Council for Social Justice and Peach (CSJP) quashed.
Slamming the BJP government for not having shown the same enthusiasm in filing FIRs in the corruption complaints filed against their Ministers by the Congress, party President Girish Chodankar, in a press release, said that the Congress would approach court and get the FIR registered against CSJP quashed.
Justifying the attendance of the school children in the anti-CAA/NRC/NPR rally and meeting at Fatorda on Thursday Chodankar said, “No one called the people and parents to come with school children to the rally. They came on their own. Government filing FIR against the CSJP for this is nothing but curtailing the free voice of the public.”
“Congress will definitely approach court for the quashing of FIR,” he said.
“No second thought of our stand against the CAA/NRC/NPR. The Act is against the Constitution and we will oppose CAA/NRC/NPR,” Chodankar said.
On the ZP elections, he said, “Government is manipulating the election process of ZP and it is illegal. The government has no powers to decide reservation. In fact the work of State Election Commission is being done by BJP headquarters through Chief Minister.”
Claiming that the party is strong in 40- 45 ZP seats, he said that the party would give tickets to the leaders who are strong contenders to defeat the BJP.
Meanwhile, Vice-President of South Goa wing of the Catholics Association Goa Capt Venzy Viegas has resigned from his post in protesting the filing of a “false” criminal complaint against the Council for Social Justice and Peace by Vice-President (North Goa) Emidio Pinho.
