PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has decided to seek an appointment with ailing Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to inquire about his health and also to bring to his notice how his office and his party, BJP are taking undue advantage of his absence from the administration.
Addressing media persons on Sunday, GPCC spokesperson Swati Kerkar said that as a responsible opposition party it is their right to know the exact health condition of chief minister, who is been undergoing treatment at his private residence.
“The Chief Minister’s Office and BJP have been claiming that Parrikar’s health is stable and he is improving. But no one is allowed to meet him. The appointments we sought in the past were declined on health ground,” she said.
“But if today, Chief Minister’s health is improving…he is signing and clearing files…holding conferences through video calls then, Congress delegation should be allowed to meet him,” Kerkar added.
Kerkar said that the
delegation would like to meet the chief minister and inquire about his health so that all doubts are cleared and we are also relived that our chief minister is fine and handling administration. “We also want to bring to the chief minister’s notice, how his office and the party are taking undue advantage of his absentee, to threaten the staffers, whose family members are associated to Congress,” she said.
The Congress leader said that in absence of chief minister, there is complete collapse of State administration and the bureaucrats are misusing this opportunity, having no one to hold them accountable.
Parrikar, who is been ailing since mid-February with pancreatic ailment is currently recuperating at his private residence at Dona Paula. He was shifted from AIIMS, New Delhi to Goa on October 14.
