MARGAO: Luizinho Faleiro made a point to have blessings and support from his workers at the meeting held at his residence at Margao on Monday, before resigning as a Congress MLA of Navelim constituency, and also a member of the Congress party.

More than hundred workers were gathered at his residence. Earlier he visited the Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim before addressing them. Luizinho was a bit emotional also while informing about his decision to the workers.

Many panch members from different village panchayats of Navelim constituency also attended the meeting. His workers were seen wishing Luizinho good luck.

Speaking to Herald many workers supporting him said that it is better to leave the party rather than face the humiliation.

“We have seen the growth in the Congress under the leadership of Luizinho Faleiro. However, it was very shocking to know that he was blamed by few for no reason,” said a supporter.

One of the panch members from a village panchayat of Navelim said on the condition of anonymity that there is nothing wrong in leaving the Congress party, as there is neither scope nor the future left in the party.

“I have been with Congress for the last several years and have witnessed how Luizinho Faleiro used to work hard in order to strengthen the party. We will support him always,” he said.

Luizinho said that all need to fight in to save Goa from getting destroyed.

“I have suffered pain in silence and it was a dignified silence for the last four and half years. I can also feel the pain people have suffered,” he said.

Luizinho said that TMC has not approached him but he had meetings with Prashant Kishor, of I-PAC.

“I have contacted nearly 700 workers since the last one day in order to consult and inform them about my decision. I don’t need offers. However, the offer was to take a lead at State and also at national level,” he said.

He further said Goa is the jewel in the crown of India. Goa is not poor and is the richest State in the country.
